Day 1: DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA
You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel by a representative of the Coconut Tours. We will start our day with the journey from Kandy to Dambulla and stop on the way in a Herbal and Spice garden. The Golden Rock in Dambulla is a cave temple which dates back to the 1st Century BC. Its rock ceiling is one large sweep of colorful frescoes which depict Buddhist mythology and the tales of the Buddha’s previous births. The caves house the largest collection of Buddha statues in one place. After the visit we will proceed to Sigiriya which is a 650 feet high rock fortress, a masterpiece of construction, artistry & irrigation. The world-renowned frescoes of the Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya. It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
Day 2: SIGRIYA – POLONNARUWA – KANDY
On the second day we will start our journey in the early morning. Our destination is Polonnaruwa. We will spend most of the day touring the medieval capital. After that we will visit a Wood carving Factory. In the evening we will return to Kandy.
