Day 1: AIRPORT – KANDY
A Representative of Coconut Tours will meet you at the airport. On the first day we will take you to one of the most famous towns in Sri Lanka – Kandy. There you will be accommodated in a nice guest house/hotel. The rest of the day you can rest or freely explore the city. (On your request we can arrange activities.) We will spend the night in Kandy.
Day 2: KANDY – KNICKLES MOUNTAIN RANGE
After an early breakfast we will Live Kandy and proceed to Knuckles Mountain Range. This is the region for trekking and hiking. It stretches an impressive 155sq.km with five major forest formations, a wide variety of rare and endemic flora and fauna and mountain scenery. This is where we will trek through the forest. We will walk for a few hours to reach our camping site. You will be able to see rare Endemic species of Birds, Animals, Flora and Fauna etc. We will camp overnight in the knuckles mountain area.
Day 3: KNICKLES MOUNTAIN RANGE / KITHULGALA
After breakfast we will clean our campsite. We will be picked up by our driver and continue our trip to Kithulgala. Kithulgala is famous for white water rafting in the Kelani River with encounters of grade 2 & 3 rapids and relaxing walks in the village. After getting all the equipment and safety instructions we will wake up the adventurous soul in us! It’s time for rafting! We will spend our third night in Kithulgala.
Day 4: KITHULGALA – NUWARA ELIYA
After waking up to another beautiful day and have some delicious breakfast we will cross the Kelani River by a canoe and take a walk at Kithulgala forest patch to see some amazing Birdlife and enjoy nature. Around noon we will proceed to Nuwara Eliya. It’s time to admire the beautiful Tea carpeted uphill county scenery. On our way we will stop at two magnificent waterfalls, first called Devon waterfall and second one St. Clair waterfall. We will spend the night in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 5: NUWARA ELIYA – HORTON PLAINS – ELLA
On our fifth day we will proceed to Horton Plains National Park early in the morning, located in the Nuwara Eliya area. The coldest and windiest location in Sri Lanka consists of ecosystems such as mountain evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and aquatic ecosystem. It has an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s time for trekking You will be able to see cloud forests and rare montane fauna which include the Endemic Rhino Horned lizard, Bear-monkey, Giant squirrels and Sambhur. We will also look for endemic birds such as yellow-eared Bulbul, Hill white-eye and dull blue Flycatcher. We will walk through the grasslands up to the view point known as the “Worlds End”. After our Trek a train will take us from Nanuoya to Ella. The train ride in the observation compartment offers an amazing and unforgettable view of the uphill country. We will spend the night in Ella.
Day 6: ELLA – YALA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast it was time for us to explore Ella and its surroundings. We will be able to see waterfalls and trek up the hill called “Little Adams Peak”. After the trek we will continue our way to Yala. It’s time for an amazing adventure, afternoon safari by jeep at Yala National Park. It has one of the highest densities of Leopards in world and considering tha it’s the best place in Asia to see them. Other large animals that live there and we might see are: Elephants, Sloth Bears, mugger Crocodiles, Spotted deer, sambhurs, deer, Wild Boars, Reptiles and a big diversity of birds. The safari is followed by an overnight stay in Yala. (Instead of spending the night in a guest house you have the option of sleeping in a tree house or camp in the jungle).
Day 7: YALA – AHANGAMA – GALLE – HIKKADUWA
After breakfast we proceed with our journey on the southern coast. Our first stop of the day is at Ahangama where we can stilt fisherman at work. Time for taking some amazing pictures! Our next important stop on the way is Galle. The city is famous by its Dutch Fortress. We will take a walk around it, admire the diversity of architectural styles and climb.on the wall to see the fort conquering the waves of the Indian Ocean. Our last stop of The day is Hikkaduwa, one of the most famous seaside towns on the southern coast. It’s time to rest and enjoy the amazing tropical beach with the golden sand and the high green palm trees. Who wants a king coconut? The night will be spent at Hikkaduwa.
Day 8: HIKKADUWA – COLOMBO (AIRPORT)
After breakfast our van will pick us up and we will continue our way to Colombo or the Airport. (Depending on your request you can stay in the beach area. Drop-offs at other places are also available,)
